The whole school attended a special Christingle Service this week at St Christophers Church. Reverend Simon Lewis led the service where the children learnt all about the meaning of Christingle and "Christ's Light", the symbol of our Christian faith. We all had the opportunity to take part in making a Christingle using an orange, representing the world; placing red tape/ribbon around the orange indicating the love and blood of Jesus; placing four cocktail sticks in the orange which are representative of the four seasons with sweets and raisins placed on each stick which are symbols of God's creations; a candle was placed in the middle symbolising Jesus , the light of the world who brings hope to people living in darkness.
Once the Christingles were all made we circled the Church and lit all 112 candles, it was spectacular and symbolic.
Thank you to the parents and Mr and Mrs Hatton who all helped to prepare the Church ready for us to make the Christingles, your support was very much appreciated.
A special day to be remembered by all. Thank you Reverend Simon!
